About

UC Davis Staff Assembly is dedicated to promoting the welfare, interests, and diversity of staff, the campus and the University of California. The UC Davis Staff Assembly meets regularly with UC Davis administration on a range of issues important to staff and works to enhance communication among the university community along with proposing and sponsoring programs and activities committed to the interests of staff.

History

The UC Davis Staff Assembly was envisioned by Chancellor Emil Mrak in October 1968 to create a complete campus community, involving all segments of the campus. This vision was realized when Chancellor James Meyer formally recognized UC Davis Staff Assembly as a staff organization in September 1969. UC Davis Staff Assembly, the second in the UC system, cemented the concept of shared governance in the University's mission of teaching, research and service where administration, faculty, staff, and students work together.

The UC Davis Staff Assembly is one of the five recognized campus constituent organizations. UC Davis Staff Assembly; the Academic Senate; the Academic Federation; the Associated Students, University of California, Davis; and the Graduate Student Association comprise the entire campus community and are the basis of the shared governance process of this campus.

Membership

Every UC Davis staff person is a member of Staff Assembly. To get more involved in your Staff Assembly, please attend one of the monthly General Meetings, held on the second Tuesday of every month, or come meet up with us at one of our events! Staff Assembly and its committees offer fantastic opportunities to develop one’s skills and stay connected to the issues affecting the broader campus. We’re a fun group and entirely focused on advocating for staff. Email Staff Assembly at staffvoice@ucdavis.edu for more information.
