Employer of Choice Poll Results

What does or what would make UC Davis an employer of choice?

We published a survey in the November 2, 2023 edition of Staff Voice and asked staff the following question: What does or what would make UC Davis an employer of choice?

We categorized the answers, and out of 41 respondents, the top three answers for UC Davis’s potential were:

  1. Increased pay
    • Wages to support local cost of living (Davis)
    • New hire vs. current staff pay inequities
    • Salary + increased cost of benefits = lower pay
  2. Additional flex/work arrangement options
    • 4-day work week
    • Fully remote work
    • Summer Fridays
  3. Benefits improvements
    • Paid childcare benefits
    • Bereavement pay
    • Cheaper gym and dining benefits

Additionally, praise for UC Davis as an employer of choice included:

“UC Davis's commitment to diversity and inclusion in hiring and the employee experience makes them an employer of choice.”

“There are many things that make UC Davis an employer of choice, but the benefits, opportunities for continuing education and career advancement and work environment are some of the top reasons for me.”

“Working with students, student development, place of Intellectual wellness, great coworkers and a job that I am passionate about.”

At UC Davis Staff Assembly, we are committed to enhancing the well-being, representing the interests, and celebrating the diversity of our staff, campus, and the University of California as a whole.

Thank you to all who participated in our survey! We chose three winning participants at random to receive UC Davis Staff swag. Congratulations to our winners!
