Staff Assembly Executive Committee
Grant Nejedlo, Membership Chair
Grant joined UC Davis in January 2014 as Staff Assembly Coordinator. He has since served as Communications and Training Manager for Facilities Management and in July 2016, accepted the position of Communications Manager for Employee Engagement. Grant is excited to contribute once again to Staff Assembly bringing with him experience in event planning, communications, outreach and volunteer coordination. He’d love to connect with you and talk about the benefits of getting involved in Staff Assembly.
Originally from the Bay Area, Grant earned his BA in English from UC Davis. Shortly after graduating, he joined the Peace Corps where he spent nearly three years working on agribusiness projects in a remote indigenous village in the southern Ecuadorian Andes. It was in Ecuador that Grant met his wife, Kat, a fellow Peace Corps volunteer.
When they completed their service, Grant and Kat returned to Reno where Grant directed operations for an Americorps program that placed volunteers on environmental restoration projects throughout Nevada and created educational materials for Living With Fire, a wildfire-preparedness program at University of Nevada Cooperative Extension. Following the birth of their first child, Lily, and Kat accepting a position with UC Davis’ Strategic Communications, the Nejedlos moved back to Davis. Grant spent his first two years in Davis working as Deputy Director of the Davis Chamber of Commerce which provided a great re-introduction to this wonderful region.
Kat and Grant welcomed their son, Silas, in late 2013 and spend as much time as possible bicycling, converting lawn into water-wise gardens, and visiting local farms. Their favorite annual trip – camping in the Coastal Redwoods and swimming in the Smith River on California’s North Coast.
