III. Board Reports
A. Chair – Lin
TGFS was a success. Staff Assembly received great feedback from Staff regarding the picnic and the new caterers. There were a few complaints regarding transportation. A few buses were late or did not show up to certain stops. Alma will address this with Amador and keep Staff Assembly updated. The Committee did receive a letters from an anonymous staff member who was very unhappy about TGFS. We can’t address the issues due to the letter being anonymous but, we will take the person’s feedback into consideration for the planning of next year’s event. Overall, the event was a success! Staff Assembly will be hosting a Thank You Party on May 28th at Sudwerk Restaurant for all the volunteers and TGFS committee who helped with this year’s event.
Lin and Alyssa met with Fred Wood to discuss the use of Staff ID Cards for lunch on Campus and for bookstore purchases, also possible Staff Discounts at the Silo, ARC and bookstore. Another topic of discussion was a future contribution from Vice Chancellor’s for Student Staff TGFS tickets. Fred Wood advised to schedule a meeting with Brett Burns to discuss Staff ID Cards and discounts. Fred will look into the TGFS contribution for Student Staff.
Lin King, Lina Layiktez and Alyssa Varela met with Paul Prokop from University Development Office to discuss development/fundraising opportunities for Staff. Staff will have the opportunity for “online giving” and the development office is also going to work on including staff in the Centennial Campaign to raise funds for Staff/Staff Dependent Scholarships and Staff Events. Paul gave Staff Assembly contact for a possible Development Officer to help Staff Assembly with this process.
Lastly, Staff Assembly needs to vote on a date and location for this year’s Staff Assembly retreat.
B. Vice Chair- Peter
The Citation for Excellence Award Ceremony is on May 22, 2008 at the Chancellor’s Residence. This year, Staff Assembly has budgeted for the Distinguished Winners to receive a plaque that will include a picture with them and the Chancellor and the title of their award. The winner’s names will also be displayed on a plaque in the Alumni Center.
Updates/Discussion
UC Davis Day with the Oakland A’s is on June 29th. 100 tickets have been sold as of today. Deadline to purchase tickets is on Friday, May 23rd.
UC Davis Day at Discovery Kingdom is on August 9th. Tickets are on sale now and an announcement has gone out.
